MeetUP Digital Twin Feed Plant: inspiring and educational<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, September 22, the event \u201cMeetup Digital Twin Feed Plant\u201d took place, organized by Fresh Upstream in collaboration with Feed Design Lab. Han Swinkels chaired the event, with Stefan Kuijpers (Feed Design Lab)<\/strong> acting as his co-host.<\/p>\n

Over 40 participants from the animal feed sector can look back on an inspiring and informative MeetUP in the run-up to the Workday Data & Chain event on 12 January 2027. Kim Versteegt and Stephan Heijl, from VAA Data Works<\/strong>, explained the concept of a \u2018digital twin\u2019 using compelling examples such as weather forecasting and the timing of tyre changes in Formula 1. The key feature of a digital twin is that it continuously exchanges data with the real-world situation, thereby contributing to the optimisation of business processes. A practical example from the agri-food sector demonstrated that a digital twin can achieve up to 25 per cent better utilisation of available plant capacity and a 25 per cent reduction in waste of raw materials supplied.<\/p>\n

Harrij Schmeitz, Fresh Upstream<\/strong>, then made a passionate case for the wider application of international standards for the identification of, amongst other things, products and locations. These are used worldwide in sectors such as shipping, ensuring that transport from port to port is efficient and effective. The adoption of international standards such as the Global Location Number (GLN) could also simplify business processes within the animal feed sector and significantly improve the quality of data exchange throughout the \u2018farm-to-fork\u2019 chain.<\/p>\n
