An interview with Mark de Groot from Nutricontrol
What is your relationship with Feed Design Lab and how long have you been a partner of Feed Design Lab?
NutriControl has been a proud partner of Feed Design Lab since 2017. Our collaboration focuses on supporting innovation and quality-oriented solutions for, among others, the animal feed, pet food and alternative proteins sectors. With our extensive analysis package and expertise, we contribute to various research projects, with a strong focus on quality, sustainability and efficiency. Thanks to the building of our new laboratory, we can expand this support even further, with more capacity and more advanced analysis techniques.
What is your job within NutriControl?
I am Mark de Groot, account manager at NutriControl. My role is to advise companies in the segments in which NutriControl is active on the best analysis methods and solutions for their specific issues. In addition, I maintain relationships with our customers and partners, including Feed Design Lab, to support them with high-quality and reliable analyses.
What does NutriControl mean for the animal feed sector?
NutriControl stands for quality and customer focus. We offer in-depth analyses and expert advice to companies in the animal feed, pet food and alternative protein sectors, among others. Our laboratory services play an essential role in the development of innovative and sustainable feeds. With the new building, we are strengthening our role in the sector: we can work more efficiently, introduce new analysis methods and respond more quickly to market developments.
Why are you a partner of Feed Design Lab?
Feed Design Lab is a leading knowledge and innovation platform for the animal feed sector. As a partner, we actively contribute to research and development, while at the same time benefiting from the latest insights and trends in the market. Together we work on progressive projects that contribute to a more sustainable and efficient food chain.
Which themes should Feed Design Lab address in your opinion and which topics do you find interesting?
Sustainability and innovation remain important themes within the animal feed industry. I see great opportunities for Feed Design Lab in the following areas:
- Alternative protein sources such as insects, beans and algae, and their impact on feed quality.
- Chitin analysis, a method that is currently under development and offers great potential within the sector.
- Natural antioxidants, such as carnosic acid and carvacrol, and their role in animal feed.
- Data-driven quality assurance, in which predictive analyses and innovative analysis techniques such as NIR play an increasingly important role.
Finally
With the building of our new state-of-the-art laboratory, we are looking ahead to the future and continue to expand our analysis capabilities. This enables us to support the sector even better with the latest techniques and insights. We look forward to continuing to work with Feed Design Lab on an innovative and sustainable future for animal nutrition.
